Studio Nomad is a font family that took a very long time to develop. It began as a personal search for a fresh, modern alternative to traditional calligraphy. I wanted to step away from classic copperplate or Spencerian styles—specifically moving away from heavy thick-to-thin contrast—and instead capture the effortless feel of gel ink. Not a literal, heavy gel ink bleed, but a clean, monoline-adjacent script with a contemporary structure.
The family is split into two distinct parts: The Essentials (clean, foundational styles) and The Experimental Set (line-texture and grid-based explorations).
A Note on the Experimental Styles
In the experimental set (Star, Pixel, Stitch, etc.), the strokes are constructed from individual geometric units and micro-patterns.
Technical Disclosure on Character Overlaps:
Please note that in styles like Studio Nomad Star, where swashes and letter connections overlap, the pattern elements (such as the star shapes) will naturally overlap as well.
In a standard solid vector font, these overlapping paths are invisible because black vector shapes merge seamlessly into black. However, in a structured, shape-based font, these overlapping joins remain visible.
